The CURP (Clave Única de Registro de Población) is an 18-character alphanumeric code assigned by the Mexican government to every Mexican citizen and legal resident. It is Mexico's equivalent of a national ID number.
Why does Aureo require it?
Aureo complies with Mexican anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. The CURP is a mandatory requirement to verify your identity as part of the Tier 1 KYC (Know Your Customer) process, along with your official ID and proof of address.
What does a CURP look like?
It has exactly 18 characters. Example: GOML850101HDFNZR09
It encodes your name, birthdate, birthplace, and sex.
Where to find your CURP
On your INE (voter ID card): Printed on the back of your card.
On your Mexican passport: Appears on the personal data page.
Online: Look it up for free at gob.mx/curp using your name, date of birth, and state of birth.
On other documents: Birth certificate, military booklet, professional ID.

What if I don't have my CURP?
If you are a Mexican citizen or resident in Mexico, you already have a CURP assigned. You can retrieve it for free at gob.mx/curp. If you have trouble, contact Aureo support.
Is it safe to share my CURP?
Yes. The CURP is not a secret — it appears on publicly issued government documents. Aureo stores it securely and uses it solely for regulatory compliance.
