How to sell bitcoin with a Bitcoin (on-chain) transaction

Send bitcoin from any wallet to your order's address. Aureo sends your pesos by SPEI after 2 confirmations.

Aureo gives you two ways to send the bitcoin you sell. Lightning is instant but needs a Lightning wallet. Bitcoin (on-chain) is a regular Bitcoin transaction, so it works from any wallet, hardware wallets included. You send bitcoin to an address that belongs to your order, and Aureo sends your pesos by SPEI once the transaction has 2 confirmations. That usually takes about 20 minutes.

Before you start

  • Your identity verification (Tier 1) is approved.

  • A bank account saved as a destination in Aureo, yours or a contact's. If you don't have one yet, you can add it during the sale.

  • A Bitcoin wallet with enough balance for the amount plus the network fee.

Steps to sell

  1. On the home screen, tap Sell.

  2. Choose where your pesos go: one of your accounts or a saved contact.

  3. Enter the pesos you want to receive and tap Continue. The minimum is $100 MXN and the maximum per sale is $200,000 MXN. Your available monthly limit shows below the amount.

  4. Under How you send bitcoin, tap On-chain.

  5. Check the destination, the pesos and the approximate bitcoin, then tap Continue to payment. This sets your exchange rate, and you have 15 minutes to send.

  6. Aureo shows your order's Bitcoin address, the Amount to send and the Minimum fee rate. Tap the QR code to copy a payment link with the address and the exact amount, or copy each one with its copy button. You can also scan the QR code with your wallet from another device.

  7. In your wallet, send exactly that amount to that address, with a fee rate at or above the minimum. Before you confirm, compare the address in your wallet with the one in Aureo. Tap the expand button next to the address to see it in full.

  8. Go back to Aureo. The order shows Payment detected, usually within a few minutes, then Confirming 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. Each confirmation takes about 10 minutes. You can close the app, and Aureo notifies you when the status changes.

  9. After the second confirmation, Aureo sends your pesos by SPEI. The order shows Payment completed, and View details has your receipt.

Keep in mind

  • Send the exact amount. If you send a different amount, your pesos change in proportion. Send less and you receive less. If the new amount falls outside your limits, the payment goes to review.

  • Use at least the minimum fee rate. With a lower fee, or if you send after the 15 minutes, Aureo sets your exchange rate at the first confirmation instead. A very low fee can leave the transaction unconfirmed for hours.

  • If the time runs out before you send, the screen shows Your exchange rate expired and hides the address. Tap Refresh rate to get a new rate for the same pesos, on the same address. If you already sent the bitcoin, don't send it again. Aureo detects it and shows it on the order. An order from a previous month can't be refreshed, so start a new one.

  • One payment per order. Each order has its own address. Don't reuse it for another sale. A second payment to the same address goes to review, and our team returns it.

  • If your payment goes to review, the order shows Your payment is under review and we email you. If we can't complete the sale, reply with a Bitcoin address and our team sends your bitcoin back.

  • Fees. Aureo's fee is already included in the Amount to send. The network fee is separate, and your wallet charges it.

In short

Tap On-chain, send the exact amount to your order's address with at least the minimum fee within 15 minutes, and your pesos go out after 2 confirmations, usually about 20 minutes later. For small amounts you want in seconds, Lightning is faster.
