When you create a sell order in Aureo, the system generates a Lightning invoice (BOLT11) with a locked price quote. This quote is valid for exactly 5 minutes.
Why does the quote expire?
Bitcoin prices change constantly. To guarantee you receive the agreed peso amount, the exchange rate is temporarily locked. If the timer reaches zero before you pay the invoice, the quote is no longer valid.
The on-screen timer
On the payment screen you will see a countdown showing "Expires in MM:SS". When less than 30 seconds remain, the counter turns orange. When it reaches zero, it turns red and shows "Expired".
What happens when it expires?
The invoice can no longer be paid. A button appears saying "Refresh Swap Order". Tapping it, Aureo generates a new invoice at the current market price. Your sell order is reused — you do not need to start a new one from scratch.
How to avoid expiry
Have your Lightning wallet open and ready before creating the sell order
Scan the QR code or copy the invoice immediately
Confirm the payment within 5 minutes
Modern Lightning wallets (Wallet of Satoshi, Phoenix, Muun, Alby) process the payment in seconds once you confirm.
Is my money safe if it expires?
Yes. If the quote expires before you pay, no bitcoin is deducted from your wallet. The order remains open and you can refresh the quote at any time using the "Refresh Swap Order" button.
